Bollywood Films have given us some classic films which can make our hearts heavy with emotions. Some of it’s characters and situations are so moving, that everytime you watch it, you cannot help shed those tears. We came up with a list of epic scenes that are powerful enough to move you to tears.

1. Anand

Cinema lovers can never forget the climax scene of Anand. It is raw, original and impeccably performed by the two legends of Indian cinema - Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. Remember the last line towards the end of the film, “Anand mara nahi, Anand marte nahi”?

2. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Who can forget the sizzling chemistry of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the movie? The last scene of the film when Anjali (Kajol) is about to get married to Aman (Salman Khan) and when Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) comes and meets him, the scene takes on another level. Add to that, is the emotional song “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” sung by Alka Yagnik. The scene is a timeless tearjerker.

3. Queen

Towards the beginning of the film, when Rani’s (Kangana Ranaut) groom-to-be breaks the marriage plan to pursue his ambition, is emotionally captivating to engage the viewers. Kangana’s incredible performance moves the viewer to tears. This is certainly an epic scene from a movie which is otherwise known for humour and drama.

Kal Ho Na Ho

The climax scene of the film where Aman (Shah Rukh Khan) is in the hospital, battling between life and death is emotionally disturbing and certainly one of the most emotional films of our times.

5. Swades

The movie is about the relentless passion for one’s own country. In one of the scenes, the protagonist Mohan Bhargav is in the train when a small boy comes and begs in front of him for money. It is a moving scene, which seeks to show the disparity between the privileged and unprivileged lots in our society. Added to that, is the soulful music of Rahman in the background.

6. Mr.India

Mr.India is a timeless film. In one of it’s heart-wrenching scenes, the death of an innocent young girl named Tina leaves everyone surprised. It is a tragic and emotionally distrubing scene from the film.

7. Sholay

Sholay is an all-time classic film with all the ingredients of a Hindi film in place. It has humour, drama, suspense and romance. The ending scene of the film where Jai dies is one of the saddest scenes in the history of Indian cinema. With the song, “yeh dosti hum nahi todenge” playing in the background, the scene becomes epic and unforgettable.

8. Jab We Met

Happy go lucky Geet’s life turns upside down when she comes to face the reality when her lover Anshuman rejects her. The climax scene is beautifully shot with Ustad Rashid Khan’s beautiful composition playing in the background.

9. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 

The scene where Salman Khan leaves Aishwarya is too painful to watch on screen. With Tadap-tadap ke playing in the background and Aishwarya running all the way to her mansion like home to meet Salman, can leave anyone emotional.

10. Black

Inspired from a true story of Helen Killer, Black is inspirational to say the least. Watch out for a moving scene in the film, where the protagonist of the film played by Rani, utters the word ‘Maa’ for the very first time.
